Professor Veena Sahajwalla and Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz share a passion for sustainability and have collaborated on a project that has introduced sustainable building materials into large scale property developments. This session will provide an insight into preparing for the future and putting sustainability at the heart of your business.

Professor Veena Sahajwalla is a leading expert in the field of recycling science, and founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research & Technology at UNSW. Professor Veena is an internationally recognised inventor, engineer, and materials scientist. She invented polymer injection technology, known as ‘green steel’, which is an eco-friendly process for using recycled tyres in steel production.

Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz is the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Mirvac Group Australia. Susan is Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia that promotes green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations. In 2014, Susan was named New South Wales Business Woman of the Year as well as Telstra Business Woman of the Year for the private and corporate sector.

This session will be facilitated by Coleman Greig’s Principal Lawyer, Melissa McGrath who has an interest in sustainability and innovation. Melissa is a specialist intellectual property lawyer and trade mark attorney, with qualifications in biochemistry as well as Law.
