About Jessica

Jessica Bunn is a Lawyer working within Coleman Greig’s Wills & Estate Planning team.

With experience in estate planning, Jessica assists clients in preparing estate planning documents, including Wills, Enduring Guardianship and Powers of Attorney. In terms of estate administration, Jessica has assisted clients with preparing applications for probate and the realisation and distribution of estate assets as well as other aspects of estate administration. Jessica is also experienced with the preparation of court documents in estate related litigation.

From high-net-worth individuals to young couples and families, Jessica can assist with simple straightforward estate planning matters such as the preparation of Wills for married couples and more complex matters involving testamentary trusts and preparing section 100 statements in an estate litigation situation.

She has a special way of acknowledging her clients’ feelings and sees her emotional intelligence as a strength. When dealing with complex contested estates, Jessica is always mindful of the associated emotions that often come with these situations.

A naturally strong communicator, Jessica often adapts her communication methods and style to ensure it suits her clients, sometimes using flow charts and diagrams to explain the process or complex legislation. She will also often ask open ended questions to ensure her clients understand the process and next steps in their particular situation.

Jessica has achieved many successful outcomes for clients in the following situations, such as:

  • Administering various estates
  • Contested probate proceedings, preparing a Will and Section 100 statement for a terminally ill client;
  • Representing defendants in family provision proceedings in the Supreme Court; and
  • Making claims to the trustee in superannuation for her client to receive the superannuation death benefit, in circumstances where a binding death benefit nomination form nominated another person.

Having previously worked for the Dust Diseases Tribunal and District Court of NSW, Jessica has had exposure to common law, criminal law and various dust diseases matters.

Jessica has also authored multiple articles on the topic of estate planning, including estate administration tips and traps.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys hiking, cooking and walking her dogs.
