Tim McGrath currently holds the position of Special Counsel within Coleman Greig's Litigation & Dispute Resolution team in the Sydney CBD, having joined the firm as part of our 2019 integration with Argyle Lawyers.
Tim advises and acts on behalf of corporate and commercial clients including overseas corporate entities, SMEs, high net worth individuals and insolvency practitioners in litigated and non-litigated matters.
Tim regularly appears and acts on behalf of clients in complex commercial, corporate and insolvency proceedings before the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Federal Court of Australia and in commercial arbitrations. In addition to his corporate, commercial and insolvency practice Tim also advises and acts on behalf clients in respect to regulatory investigations and prosecutions by Commonwealth and State authorises including under the Corporations Act, the ASIC Act and WHS legislation.
In addition to his litigation practice, Tim regularly advises his clients on commercial transactions and trust arrangements with a view to avoiding disputes.
Where possible, Tim seeks to use alternative dispute resolution to achieve a timely and cost-effective results for his clients.
Tim’s practice areas include:
(a) corporations litigation and advice;
(b) corporate and personal insolvency including cross-border insolvency;
(c) trusts litigation;
(d) white collar and regularly prosecutions; and,
(e) agriculture disputes.
Prior to his admission as a solicitor, Tim was also a researcher to a senior judge of the New South Wales Supreme Court. Since his admission as a solicitor, Tim has lectured in equity and trusts, corporations law and insolvency at Western Sydney University. He is also a member of the Law Society.
