Ralph Coleman moves his family from Bowraville NSW to Parramatta, opening his practice at 6/150 Church Street. At the time, the area boasted just five firms: Greenwell Shephard & York, F.W. Todhunter, Sholto P Kemp, G Robilliard and Bowden & Bowden. |
1931 |
Ralph Coleman purchases Bowden & Bowden, founded by John Ebenezer Bowden – the district Coroner and Parramatta Council’s solicitor for 52 years. Following the purchase, Coleman moved his offices to Chambers at the rear of the Rural Bank at 16 George St. |
1940 |
Malcolm Greig joins the firm – forming the partnership that we now know as Coleman Greig Lawyers. At the time, Coleman was a Notary Public, thus the firm was officially named Coleman & Greig Solicitors and Notaries. |
1951 |
Ralph’s son Robert Coleman joins the firm as partner. Robert had previously been articled to Alec Davis of Hughesdon & Davis – who had acted as the Sydney agents for Coleman & Greig at the time. |
1962 |
Following Coleman & Greig taking the lead in forming Legal Chambers Pty Ltd with the assistance of three other Parramatta firms - Kay Davies & Champion, F.W. Todhunter & Son and Symonds & Britten, the construction of Legal Chambers at 9 George Street is completed. |
1975 |
Ralph Coleman – Coleman Greig’s founding partner passes away, aged 80. |
1982 |
Coleman Greig relocates to the McNamara Centre at 100 George Street – the site of the current Parramatta offices. Coleman Greig was one of the first Western Sydney law firms to be located in a modern high-rise office block. |
1984 |
Coleman & Greig acquires the firm of Hazell & Lucas. |
1985 |
Coleman & Greig is a founding firm in AustLaw, an association of independent law firms around Australia. |
1987 |
Coleman & Greig acquires the practice of David Andrews & Associates. |
1990 |
Coleman & Greig leases the 9th floor of the McNamara Centre in addition to the 10th floor. The firm also acquires GK Strong & Associates, and appoints its inaugural scholarship student. |
2006 |
The firm gains certification under LAW9000 and ISO9001 |
2007 |
2007 saw the firm move from a partnership structure to an incorporated company - Coleman Greig Solicitors Pty Ltd. |
2012 |
Coleman Greig acquired two firms - Robilliard & Robilliard, and White & Halbert. |
2014 |
Coleman Greig Lawyers lease level 11 at 100 George Street – the firm is now located on level 10 and 11. |
