Melissa Doyle

Biography

Melissa is the Host of the Seven Network’s flagship current affairs program, Sunday Night. She is also an award-winning Journalist and Senior News Presenter with Seven News (Australia) and the weekend breakfast host for radio station Smooth FM.  She also hosts the 6pm News each Friday and Saturday night for Seven News Sydney.

In 2014, Melissa won the Australian Commercial Radio award (ACRA) for Best Newcomer (Metro). She also released a best selling memoir called Alphabet Soup.

After graduating from Charles Sturt University with a Degree in Broadcast Journalism in 1990, Mel began her career as a television news reporter in Canberra before joining the Seven Network in 1995. In a varied career, she has covered major news stories from around Australia and the world – as diverse as state and federal elections, the rescue of the trapped miners at Beaconsfield, the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine and the Inauguration of Barack Obama. Melissa has also covered the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic Games, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, The Academy Awards and was the first journalist to interview Tom Cruise following the birth of his daughter Suri.

Melissa has interviewed some of the world’s most famous faces, from Jane Fonda, Katy Perry and Stevie Nicks to Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Jerry Lewis and Justin Bieber.

A multiple Silver Logie nominee as Most Popular Television Presenter, Melissa was voted one of the “most real celebrity mums” and regularly polls in the Top 50 of Reader’s Digests annual list of Most Trusted Australians.

Off screen, Mel is devoted to her many charities. She is the National Patron for Make A Wish and is an Ambassador for World Vision, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Adopt Change, Westmead Children’s Hospital, Children’s Cancer Institute and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Melissa is a Board Member of the George Gregan Foundation.

Melissa is also an ambassador for the Federal Government’s National Road Safety Council and is the Number One Ticket Holder for the GWS Giants (AFL) and Whittlesea Eagles (Vic AFL).

She is also the Chairperson for the GIANTS Foundation Charity, established in 2013. Melissa also co-authored the Working Mothers Survival Guide in 2007.

Melissa is married to John and the very proud mother of Nicholas and Talia.
