About Stephanie
Stephanie Barnes joined Coleman Greig in 2011. She has a strong background in commercial law, with particular expertise in the field of franchising that she gained working in both private legal practice and the commercial sector.
Stephanie is uniquely placed to assist Coleman Greig’s commercial and franchising clients. She began her career working for a large alcoholic beverages company and later went on to hold the position of legal counsel for an Australian franchisor of an international courier franchise system, and most recently acted as a legal counsel for one of the Big Four accounting firms.
Her previous experience has also included reviewing and negotiating consultancy contracts for Government Tenders and providing advice in the area of promotions and advertising law, in particular, advising on the relevant laws in New Zealand which may impact on the marketing of products
In her role with Coleman Greig, Stephanie provides advice in a wide range of areas including:
- Franchising Law in particular an emphasis on advising franchisors as to their obligations under the Franchising Code of Conduct, advising on legal issues specific to the franchising sector as well as preparing, drafting and amending disclosure documents and franchise agreements
- Contract review, negotiation and drafting of a variety of commercial agreements.
