About Susan
Accredited Specialist, Family Law
Manager, Family Law
As head of the busy Coleman Greig Family Law Team, and a Principal of the firm, Susan Warda is highly regarded across the profession for both her legal expertise and her commitment to clients and the community.
An accredited specialist in family law who joined Coleman Greig in 2000, Susan became an Associate with the firm in 2006 and a Principal in 2007. Her expertise in the field of family law is well recognised across the industry, and she is often asked to present at professional events and training programs organised by the University of NSW, the College of Law and various other legal education providers.
Susan has particular expertise in family law matters that involve complex financial issues, including property settlements that incorporate family businesses, multiple assets and superannuation splitting. Her commercial experience and business acumen enables her to quickly identity both the issues at hand, and the best possible solution for her clients, many of whom are professionals or business owners and operators.
As well as property and financial issues, Susan also undertakes numerous Hague Convention Applications, the separate representation of children and matters concerning parenting arrangements, child support matters and de facto relationship cases.
In addition to providing strong court-based representation, Susan also has extensive experience in resolving family law matters outside of the Court system. She is an experienced mediator and trained collaborative law practitioner, and is therefore able to help clients resolve their disputes without having to be involved in costly and time-consuming litigation. Many of Susan’s clients have found the collaborative process to provide a much speedier and more private resolution to their situation.
Susan is actively involved in the local business community through her role as the Ambassador for the Coleman Greig Women in Business Forum, her presentations to finance and accounting professionals on family law related issues, and her position on the Board of various organisations. She is currently the Chair of the Austlaw Board, an association of independent law firms located throughout NSW, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT, a founding member of the Western Sydney Collaborative Family Lawyers network, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), a Director on the NSW Board of Variety, the Children's Charity and a Director of Variety Australia.
